RULES AND REGULATIONS for the 2021 St. Louis Star all Championships

Absolutely no responsibility for loss or theft in the changing rooms, ballroom or hotel rooms can be accepted or assumed by the organizers or the NDCA. Neither can they be held liable for injury sustained by persons attending the St Louis Star Ball Championships.  All competitors must sign a release form. Everyone attending does so at his/her own risk.

Dance Categories, Levels, Eligibility, and Requirements

The NDCA syllabus is used for all closed categories.

Age

  • In single dance and multi-dance championships and scholarships, a student may dance their age plus one age division lower.

  

Levels

  • A student may only enter two dance levels. Example:  If you are entered in bronze, you may dance all bronze and silver levels but may not enter gold or above. 

DCT Newcomer Scholarships

  • Dancers Cup Tour Newcomer Scholarships are open to students who have never competed before and for one year after their first competition.​

Pro/Am Scholarships

  • Gentlemen may enter both the Gentleman's Only events and the regular scholarship events

  • Closed Scholarships

    • To enter any Scholarship you must dance the same number of single dance events​

    • These events are closed bronze, silver and gold NDCA material.

    • A student may dance both the "C" and "SR" age

  • Open Scholarships​

    • To enter any Scholarship you must dance the same number of single dance events​.  

    • These events are not restricted to any syllabus material.

    • A student may dance both the "C" and "SR" ages.

Pre-Teen Clothing Restrictions

  • Pre Teen (11 & Under) competitors are restricted in their costuming as per the NDCA rule book

 

Proficiency Events

  • We are now offering proficiency categories in all levels and age groups for those who wish to compete for their own individual score rather than against others.

Levels for International and American Styles:

  • NB = Newcomer Bronze

  • PB = Pre-Bronze

  • IB = Intermediate Bronze

  • OIB = Open Intermediate Bronze

  • FB = Full Bronze

  • OB = Open Bronze

  • PS = Pre-silver

  • IS = Intermediate Silver

  • FS = Full Silver

  • OS = Open Silver

  • PG = Pre Gold

  • IG = Intermediate Gold

  • FG = Full Gold

  • OG1 = Open Gold 1

  • OG2 = Open Gold 2

  • International Latin -- Chacha, Samba, Rumba, Paso, Jive

  • Showdance -- Interpretive solo (lifts and drops allowed)

 

Open Championships / Dancesport Series Qualifiers:

  • A -- 19 to 35

  • B -- 36 to 50

  • C -- 51 and over
